Hey Lovers!

Submissions open August 1, 2016 for the 2017 San Diego Improv Festival, being held from
Thursday, February 16th to Sunday, February 19th 2017 at Finest City Improv.

It’s our fourth annual festival and once again we are doing it . . .  “For the LOVE of Improv”.

If you have been in previous years you know the scale of the event we are about to produce and the amount of joy it will bring. We have improvisers from across the world coming to join us here at Finest City Improv for a weekend of love, support, and improv! It’s a weekend full of workshops, shows, and parties.

Learn more and submit your team for consideration on the Festival website. Submissions are due by October 15th. And, help us spread the word to your favorite improvisers near and far!

San Diego Community Members — Be Involved!

You can help decide who will be performing at the festival. We need a panel of  approximately 2 dozen improvisers to help decide who is invited to perform at this festival. Each judge will be required to review a minimum of around 10 submissions online and submit their scores electronically. You must be available between October 15th (judging begins) and November 15th (judging ends). Anyone from the San Diego improv community is eligible to judge. To join us simply join the Improv Network and send a friend request to Amy Lisewski with a message asking to be a judge. Please include a list of any teams that you currently play on or have played on in the past few years.

New this year . . . 25% of our shows will be chosen by lottery! We strongly believe in supporting improvisers of all styles and experience and we want to reflect that by spotlighting teams through a “luck of the draw” lottery system! Once we have selected the first 75% of the teams, we will hold a random drawing from the remaining teams for approximately 9-11 spots in the festival. Who knows what gems we will find that were overlooked in the video judging process!

Would you like to be a volunteer for the festival? Of course you would lover! We need people to help out before and during the festival with hospitality, marketing, operations, etc. Our next announcement will include information about joining the Festival Committee. It takes an army of lovers! We are having one big happy committee this year — more info soon!
