Every improvisor is taught from their very first day of class the idea of “Yes And.” It’s become an improv creed of sorts! Yet, even the most skilled improviser can learn more about this idea and how to play it in its many forms. That is why Finest City Improv is proud to present Kevin McGeehan’s workshop: “Hyper Yes And!” Although “Yes And” can seem like a very straightforward concept, it’s easy to get stuck in your own head, wondering what’s the best thing to say. This workshop will emphasize active listening, staying in the moment, and learning to have more precision in your responses to what your scene partner just said.
Taught by Kevin McGeehan, a former member of The National Touring Company for the legendary Second City in Chicago, the versatile writer/comedian currently performs and teaches at the improv company’s Hollywood theatre and training center. He has been teaching improvisation for The Second City for the last 10 years and performs regularly in the two-person show McSmith, where he and his partner, Monika Smith, create an improvised one-act play based on an audience suggestion. McGeehan has also been recognized for his storytelling abilities, and after winning a Moth Storytelling competition, was asked to be one of the performers in The Moth Mainstage series in different venues around the country. He is also the creator and host of Funny Cuz It’s True, an original storytelling show at Second City Hollywood featuring humorous and touching life stories, and is also a free podcast on iTunes.
Register for this once in a lifetime workshop on November 9th from 11am-2pm for only $35!
