JETZO from Los Angeles join us November 19th for a workshop and a show that will leave you laughing!
Jetzo teaches an extremely popular workshop that teach students the benefits of using clown technique in their improv acts: Clown for Improv is Saturday, November 19th from 12-3pm!
About the Workshop: Most improv schools teach us to listen for laughs to identify what the crowd likes and finds unusual. But the relationship between audience and performer is far more intimate and complex. All too often, teams speed up when the audience is silent, in hopes of finding a game to please them. Or they panic, quit or shut down when the crowd reacts poorly to a choice. When a clown takes the stage, they never have permission to pull away. They live and die for the crowd. A clown is taking on the impossible, in the hopes of creating a profound (albeit absurd) experience. That’s why they see silence and failure as a welcome opportunity. To keep a crowd off-balance. To show more vulnerability and create a sense of peril. And hopefully, in the end, win them back and save the show. This workshop explores a variety of techniques that will allow you to connect better with the audience. This involves solo and group exercises that get you to court failure, take real risks, and get out of your head. We’ll work on slowing down, doing less and making every choice a and into the moment discovery you can explore with the audience – so they can’t help but be completely engaged.
